The four-door Concept Sports Coupe will house a 214PS, turbocharged, petrol mill under the hood

Mercedes Concept Sports Coupe

Following a brief appearance at the 2012 Los Angeles Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz will announce the world debut of its Concept Sports Coupe (CSC) at the 2012 Beijing International Auto Show starting April 23, 2012. Powered by the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 214PS of power, the CSC is coupled to Mercedes’ 4MATIC all-wheel drive system through a 7G-DCT dual clutch automatic transmission. The concept borrows its design cues from the Concept A-Class and will be at the show in a new paint scheme, Alubeam, accentuating its design lines.

“The Concept Style Coupe is expressive and powerful in its design,” said Dr Dieter Zetsch, head of Mercedes-Benz cars and chairman of the board of management at Daimler AG. “We are staking our claim very clearly here. This is the model against which sporty vehicles in the executive segment will have to measure themselves.”

Mercedes Concept Sports Coupe

The 4,637mm long four-door sports coupe is a tad longer than the current C-Class (47mm), however, the next-gen C-Class will be bigger pushing the CSC just above the A-Class in terms of size. Special features on the outside such as headlamps turning red in standby mode and indicators lighting up in succession also add to the aggressive stance of the car. 21-inch wheels deliver power to the tarmac while carrying the same sporty design. Frameless windows and absence of a B-pillar also add to the continuous design.

The inside sports a wing-like carbon-fibre trim panel that stretches across the cabin to highlight its avant-garde design. The light grey and anthracite colour also sport neon piping that flows throughout the cabin including the instrument cluster, air-conditioning vents, seats, steering wheel and door panels. While the instrument panel is upholstered in alcantara, all chrome elements now feature black anodised finish for the first time. Like the Concept A-Class, the air vents are backlit and change colour according to the temperature inside the cabin – blue for cool, red for warm and fluorescent green for mid-range temperature. The car is also equipped with the comand online vehicle infotainment system where new applications for the vehicle can be downloaded and transferred using a mobile phone connection, thereby reducing workshop visits.

The same model is expected to reach Indian shores, but there is no official statement from the Stuttgart-based manufacturer. The CSC Concept should come with a higher preference to diesel engines for the country. The company was pipped by Audi in first quarter 2012 sales, landing in #3 position selling 2,130 units compared to Audi’s 2,269 units and BMW’s 2,369 vehicles. According to The Times of India, the company mentioned of its rivals in the Indian car market as sellers of ‘no-frill’ models that are comparatively less priced. “Our customers do not compromise and ‘stripped-down’ models are not for them,” said Debasis Mitra, sales and marketing director of Mercedes-Benz India. “We are not selling commodity, but luxury. Numbers are not the prime focus today.”

Mercedes-Benz E350 Cabriolet : First Drive

While most auto junkies lust after supercars, in our opinion, the most fun cars on real world roads are convertibles. Few things beat the feeling of freedom when you have no roof, and if you can enjoy this experience with three others, it just doesn't get better than this
Mercedes-Benz E350 Cabriolet driving

As brilliant as convertibles are to behold, there is a good reason that you don’t see too many of them on Indian roads – the weather. Unless you’re staying in the hills somewhere up north, chances are that you’ll experience extremely harsh summers, tropical monsoons and enough dust to fill a swimming pool each time you step out for a spin in the car. And let’s not forget the inherent danger of vandalism which rears its ugly head in almost every locality of every city in the country. But then again, the charm of driving a convertible with its top down, with a million miles of head room, is undeniable and the attention you get around town is incredibly flattering. And when you have a convertible car as handsome as thisMercedes-Benz E350 Cabriolet, you’ll be quick to forget any shortcomings a car with a folding cloth roof might hold.
There are no two ways to it. The current E-Class sedan is already a pretty handsome design. So when you lop the roof off, replace four doors with two long ones and shorten the length of the car, it can only get handsomer. With its crystal-cut head lights, angular lines and almost an absolute lack of curves, it looks more like it should belong floating in the marina at Monaco, rather than on the black top. And while it does have a lot of sporty touches such as massive 18-inch wheels shod with really low profile tyres, it looks like it was designed less for speed and more for cruising around at a fair clip in comfort, luxury and most importantly, oodles of style.

Mercedes-Benz E350 Cabriolet front seats

It’s much the same story on the inside as well. Classy black and beige leather trim all around which, even though not as modern and technology laden as some of the interiors you can find in other contemporary German luxury cars, exudes a sense of panache that is very typically current-gen Mercedes-Benz. The sportier steering wheel, the same one we find on the E-Class coupe is a nice touch, and lets you know, just by touch that you’re driving something more special than the regular E-Class. Space in the front is aplenty, and even the back seats can accommodate two adults quite easily. Getting in and out of the back is a fairly easy task as well, with the front seats folding forward at the touch of a lever, and only the ones with the most arthritic of joints will have any difficult in accessing the rear.
Mercedes-Benz E350 Cabriolet static

The coolest thing about any convertible is the fact that you can, at the touch of a button, lose the roof and stun onlookers while doing that as well. And this is no different for the E350 Cabriolet. The whole process of opening and closing the roof takes just about 20 seconds and can be done at speeds of up to 40km/h.

The roof itself is remarkable. Though it’s cloth, it’s almost an inch thick in places and when shut, provides nearly perfect wind and noise insulation inside the cabin. Even with the roof down, the optional Aircap system can lift a little flap over the top of the windscreen which deflects oncoming air over the cabin, providing wind noise isolation even during those moments of al fresco motoring.

Mercedes-Benz E350 Cabriolet engine

When you do decide to give this E350 the stick, while it will snap your head off your neck with blistering acceleration, you can’t really call it a slouch; 100km/h from standstill comes up in 8.02 seconds and the car can hit an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h. The 3.5-litre V6 petrol motor makes 272PS of power, but more importantly, it produces 355Nm of torque spread out from 2400rpm all the way to 5000rpm, which gives this refined mill great driveability. Handling, while not razor sharp, feels direct and precise enough to have a lot of fun when the road gets twisty. The Direct Control suspension with its selective damping system offers a fantastic balance between outright handling prowess and ride quality.

This makes the E350 Cabriolet a better long distance tourer, able to cope with most bumps and undulations of the road, while munching miles at enough pace to keep things interesting. And you can do it with four people in the car at that. The only thing that holds back its complete touring potential is the fact that the folding roof occupies a fair amount of space in the boot, limiting the amount of luggage you can carry on your road trip, though not to the point of debilitating you.

Mercedes-Benz E350 Cabriolet back seats

The E350 is frankly a brilliant car. It can do pretty much most things you can throw at it, from your daily commute to intercity jaunts to a bit of fun in the sun driving with the top down. But all this flexibility and fun does come at a price, but one we’d gladly meet if we could.

Audi-Ducati 860 million euro deal implications

News has just come in that German luxury car maker Audi has bought one of the most iconic motorcycle marques in the world, Ducati, reportedly for 860 million euros (Rs 58.31 billion). Will this be a happily ever after affair? We take a look at what would the marriage mean to both the parties

audi-ducati-m

So the automobile and motorcycle world was rife with reports of Audi showing keen interest in acquiring Ducati, after the Italian sports bike maker’s current owner,  InvestIndustrial, a private equity firm, decided to part ways with the iconic motorcycle brand. News has just come in that the deal has been finalised reportedly for 860 million euros (58.31 billion Indian rupees) apart from taking over the estimated 180 million euro liabilities riding on Ducati. Volkswagen, the parent company of Audi, headed by the visionary Ferdinand Piech has been looking to take over a motorcycle company in recent times. It even considered reviving the German motorcycle firm, Horex in order to fulfil its ambitions to build an elite motorcycle entity. Piech, himself an owner of a Ducati motorcycle and a man with a yen for everything exotic, tried to acquire Ducati back in 2008 when the company was for sale but lost out to the present owner, Andrea Bonomi, Chairman of InvestIndustrial.

Now that the sports bike maker came up for sale again with a reported debt tallying up to 200 million euros (previously reported to be 800 million euros), Volkswagen Group has been the most active bidder for the deal, pitching the luxury car brand under its umbrella, Audi for the arrangement. It is a perfect match as the German luxury car maker Audi has roots in motorcycle business dating back to the 1930s, when Auto Union  was conceived after an amalgamation of car makers Audi, Horch, Wanderer and motorcycle maker DKW. In the mid-sixties, the Volkswagen Group took complete control of Auto Union from its previous owners Daimler-Benz and later merged its newly acquired firm, NSU – the largest motorcycle manufacturer back then, to form Audi as we know it today.

audi-ducati-1

With such a strong connection to motorcycles since its inception, Audi is certainly the most eligible marque from the Volkswagen brand to acquire Ducati. Also the fact that the German major already has to its credit a successful takeover of legendary Italian company Lamborghini means Ducati will not lose its Italian roots but simply get the capital it requires to give the world some more iconic motorcycles like the 916, the 999 and the latest technological tour de force, the Ducati 1199 Panigale.
Ducati will bring along the engineering prowess and technical knowhow on building lightweight engines, which will add another dimension to Audi’s expertise in car making, the benefits of which could be reaped across Volkswagen’s entire portfolio ranging from passenger automobiles, heavy trucks to ship engines. Audi’s technical headquarters in Ingolstadt already boast of a top notch facility focusing on development of lightweight fuel saving technologies and Ducati’s mastery in developing high-revving lightweight engines could find more application under the Audi banner. On a  larger scale, integration of the exotic Ducati brand will also mean that Audi will enter the superbike market and have in its sights long-standing adversary BMW, which currently is the only German automobile brand to have a motorcycles division, under the BMW Motorrad trademark.

Aston Martin Rapide: First Drive

If James Bond finally decided to settle down, hang up his license to kill, get married to Moneypenny and have a couple of kids, we have no doubt this is the car he'd drive - the Aston Martin Rapide
Aston Martin Rapide
Until three years ago, while I was one of the millions slaving away in front of a computer in an IT company, fixing software code and shooting bugs, the thought of driving an Aston Martin existed as one of those automotive pipe dreams – something I hoped I would get to do one day, but somewhere in the back of my mind, figured would never become reality. But since the last three years, since I’ve been slaving away in front of a computer as an automobile journalist, writing stories and getting pages designed, the prospect of driving an Aston chanced from an “if” to a “when”.

Let me get this one thing out of the way. No matter how jaded an auto journo you might be, no matter how many exotic cars you may have driven, the sight of an Aston Martin rolling up to you and the sound of its naturally aspirated V12 engine revving up will never fail to send Goosebumps down your spine. So you can imagine the state I might have been in when the Rapide rolled up for a test drive. Stunned, speechless, dumbfounded – take your pick. Any and all of these words could best describe what I was feeling.

Aston Martin Rapide

Of course, once you’ve gotten past the “Astonness” of the Rapide, and the shock and awe has worn off, the real nature of this car starts to come through. Every line, every curve, every crease of the car dripping with pure automotive allure – so much so that the thought of getting behind the wheel almost felt cruel as that would mean not getting to see the gorgeous exterior. Sure, from the front, it looks like every other Aston Martin, but view it in profile and it’s the slightly elongated cabin and the four door layout really makes it look like nothing else on the road today. Honestly, it wouldn’t be too farfetched to say that this is probably the best looking four door car in the world.

Getting inside the car, the story took a little strange turn, however. At the risk of getting lynched by every auto enthusiast on the planet however, I do have nits to pick about the interiors. After the drop dead gorgeous looks of the body, there are certain bits of the interior, especially the centre console, which seem a little half hearted. Things like the steering wheel and crรจme leather trim are absolutely gorgeous. But then the buttons and dials on the centre console tend to feel like they should belong in a significantly cheaper and less exclusive car. The buttons look like they’ve been designed to be operated by someone with incredibly small fingers, the overall layout of the centre console seems rather uninspiring, the plastic on the dials doesn’t titillate your senses and even the air conditioning vents look like they might have come from your everyday saloon.

Aston Martin Rapide

And don’t even get me started about the rear seats. The Rapide is a four-seater in name only. Thought the two buckets in the back aren’t as small as those in some of the 2+2 coupes, they can accommodate conservatively sized adults in any kind of comfort. And even if you have no cause for concern with the leg room and head room, there’s a good chance that a feeling of claustrophobia in the rear might. Not the ideal car to be chauffeured around in then.

The driver’s seat is where the Rapide really comes alive though. The massive bucket seat itself seems to suck you in and make you an integral part of the car. The pristine steering wheel with its hand recesses and the large paddle shifters behind it let you know that you’re sitting in something not only with some serious performance figures, but proper performance heritage as well. All the nit-picks about the design of the interiors fade away in the instant you step on the gas.

The naturally aspirated 5,935cc, 48-valve V12 engine mounted in the front midship position sends 447PS of power and a staggering 600Nm of torque to the rear mounted 6-speed automatic gearbox via a carbon-fibre propshaft. What this means in simple English is that even though the Rapide is a four-door-four-seat car, every bit of it is built with speed in mind –a point proven each time you dab the throttle and the engine clears its throat and the tacho needle races towards the redline when you floor it.

The figures are enough to give any sportscar a run for its money. Zero to 100km/h in 5.2 seconds and a top speed of nearly 300km/h. Show the Rapide some corners, and it will devour them as well, thanks to its double wishbone suspension setup, adaptive damping system and super sharp brakes – 390mm ventilated discs with 6-piston monobloc calipers at the front and 360mm ventilated discs with 4-piston monobloc calipers at the re

Maruti Ertiga Review

Maruti Ertiga Pictures

With the launch of Maruti Ertiga, earlier codenamed as Maruti R3, Maruti Suzuki India has taken into its ambit almost all car segments. Following the robust branding and low maintenance nature of Maruti cars, Maruti Ertiga has hit bang on the MPV market of India. Seven seater Maruti Ertiga is tagged as the great Indian family car. This can be also attributed to the effective price tag associated with Ertiga MPV. The new MPV received its name from Indonesian language in which Ertiga means Three Rows. Albeit the looks and features scream that it is a Multi Purpose Vehicle, Ertiga is positioned in the sub-segment of Utility vehicles and this new segment is called as LUV-Life Utility Vehicle by Maruti. With this, Maruti officials claim they have created an entirely new segment in the Indian auto industry.

Ertiga’s launch has also announced Maruti’s entry into the utility segment of cars where the company is currently not a major player. Maruti in India has a bee-line of cars including some of the best selling ones in almost every segment. It has Maruti Gypsy and Maruti Grand Vitara in the SUV segment; however these have meager sales as compared to SUVs of other brands. Besides, there are vans including Maruti Omni and Maruti Eeco that provide good option and are value for money cars but still used mainly be fleet owners. Ertiga is the first utility vehicle which is targeted as a premium product and is equipped with such features which attract urban audience.

Maruti Ertiga was first unveiled at the Auto Expo held in New Delhi in 2010 as Maruti R3 concept. However, the global premier of Maruti Ertiga was done in 2012 Auto Expo. Finally, on April 12th, 2012, Ertiga made its global debut in Delhi. Ertiga is the first Maruti car that is specially made for Indian market and will then be trimmed for other global markets. Rest, all the cars were first launched in other countries and where tailor made for India afterwards. The compact LUV has been developed in collaboration with parent Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC)'s research and design wing in Japan and is produced in India itself. The Ertiga is manufactured at company's facility in Gurgaon in India. Maruti Suzuki has vested nearly Rs 430 crore (Rs 4.3 billion) in developing Ertiga. The designers have carefully built in `features and attributes’ of a sedan in a compact MPV Maruti Ertiga which is essentially built on theme of togetherness.

The almost fully grown seven-seater MPV or rather, LUV, is available in both petrol and diesel variants and three different trims. Based on Maruti Swift’s platform, Maruti Ertiga petrol is packed with an all new 1.4 litre 1372cc K series (K14B) engine that produces a maximum power of 95 Ps at 6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 130 Nm at 4000 rpm. Being the K-Series engine, the USP of these engines is that they are more fuel efficient. The Certified fuel efficiency (as per CMV Rule 155, India cycle) of Petrol Ertiga is a top of the class 16.02 km per litre. The 1.3 L 1196cc DDiS Super Turbo diesel engine is the other engine guise that powers the LUV. This Fiat sourced engine is similar to that of the Maruti SX4 sedan. The Maruti Ertiga diesel produces 90 Ps at 4000 rpm and 200 Nm at 1750 rpm. The Certified fuel efficiency (CMV Rule 155, India cycle) of Diesel Ertiga is a class leading 20.77 kmpl. Maruti MPV has a five speed manual transmission system and the car is a front wheel drive and sports fine quality interiors, which makes it more appealing.

Ertiga is quite space efficient and will boast of its interior spacing within the mini MPV segment with 4265mm in length and 2740 mm wheelbase. Two airbags will adorn the top end models while ABS will be a part of standard equipment in Ertiga sans base model. Ertiga MPV is available in six variants: LXi, VXi, ZXi, LDi, VDi and ZDi. The middle and top end variants get twin AC, 3 spoke tilt-power steering with mounted controls, power windows with auto down on driver’s side, central locking, audio system (USB Compatible, 4+2 speakers), multi information display, keyless entry, etc are stuffed in Maruti Ertiga. The roof mounted AC vents in the second and the last row passenger seats provides passenger comfort. The new MPV is unquestionably designed to ensnare the Indian families who are specially looking for a perfect merger of everyday space and usability. This car is able to meet all life’s expectations.

Skoda launches Superb Ambition

Skoda has added a more affordable variant to the Superb, called the Ambition.
This variant comes with a 1.8-litre TSI petrol mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and a 2.0-litre diesel engine with a six-speed DSG transmission.
The Superb Ambition has projector headlamps with cornering function instead of the upscale bi-xenon units found in the higher-specced Elegance variant. On the inside, the Ambition loses the Elegance’s touchscreen and also gets a single-CD player with MP3 instead of the six-CD changer on the higher variant. The Ambition does not have steering-mounted audio controls and front parking sensors.
However, the Superb Ambition trim retains all the safety features offered on the Elegance including eight airbags, ABS, EBD, Anti-Slip regulation (ASR) and Traction Control system (TCS).  However, this variant does not get a tyre-pressure monitor.
The Superb Ambition petrol is priced at Rs 17.6 lakh (ex-showroom, Maharashtra) and Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) while the diesel variant is for Rs 22.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Maharashtra) and Rs 22.07 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)

RUMOR: 2014 DEBUT FOR THE AUDI Q4 CROSSOVER WHICH WILL SHARE PARTS WITH THE PORSCHE CAJUN!

Just weeks ago, the rumormills went on overdrive suggesting that the Audi Q1 crossover could see the light of the day. However, it turns out that the speculation is more smoke than fire with Audi dismissing talk about the Q1. Instead, 2014 will see a new Audi Crossover which will share plenty of parts with the Porsche Cajun crossover. Late 2013 or early 2014 could be when the Porsche Cajun sees the light of the day. The Audi Q4 will be shorter than the Q5 and is expected to measure well under 4.5 meters in length. Another model, the Q6 which will be longer than the Q5 at 4.80 meters in length.

2014 Audi Q4 Crossover Render
The Audi Q4 is expected to a sporty model with racy styling to match that of the Cajun and also appeal to younger buyers who might want some more flair in the crossover’s design. Likewise, the Porsche Cajun will be a cut price Porsche to bring younger buyers to the Porsche fold. Volkswagen expects to complete its takeover of the Porsche by 2012, which will mean that Porsche will soon become a part of the Volkswagen brand umbrella, an umbrella that also includes Audi. A lot of standardization and platform sharing is what this is expected to result in.
For instance, the Porsche Cayenne, the Audi Q7 and the Volkswagen Touareg share the PL71 platform. The Volkswagen group plans to become the world’s largest automaker by 2018 with an annual sales number of 2018. These new models, that share a lot of parts by using the same platform, will be instrumental in giving Volkswagen the twin advantage of high profits and easier production. Coming to the Indian angle, the Cajun could be sold in India as well as Porsche’s best selling model in the country is the Cayenne SUV.

An SUV under the Cayenne with the iconic Porsche brand would only help to sharply increase sales, an opportunity Porsche wouldn’t want to miss out on.Coming to the Audi Q4, with the Range Rover Evoque already selling in India, the Q4 is another model that makes sense in the sporty crossover segment. BMW is also coming up with the X4, which is another sporty crossover aimed at the Cajun, Q4 and Evoque. All in all, the sporty crossover shows all the signs of getting very crowded in the next few years.

NEXT GENERATION 2014 AUDI TT SPORTSCAR TO GET LIGHTER, FASTER AND MORE FUEL EFFICIENT!

2014 is when Audi will debut the next generation Audi TT sportscar, that will be an all new model with a brand new racy look. The third generation Audi TT will look sharper than ever before with its looks taking inspiration from the Audi E-Tron. The front end will see the narrow slit like slim headlamps, which have become the design element on all sporty Audis. The hexagonal grille up front will be a big departure from the traditional Audi beard, making the 2014 Audi TT look more like a supercar than the everyday Audis. LED elements are expected to make it to both the headlamps as well as the tail lamps.
Next Generation 2014 Audi TT Sportscar
Next Generation 2014 Audi TT Sportscar
Radical styling elements apart, the car will still retain its instantly recognizable shape though. The 2014 Audi TT will also get plenty of lightening to make it much faster than ever before even as fuel economy gets a bump up. We’re thinking that Audi will use plenty of aluminum to lighten the 2014 Audi TT. We’re saying this as the next generation Q7 too will use plenty of aluminum to get lighter and hence the same route could be used on the Audi TT as well. As weight goes down, the TT will naturally get faster even as fuel economy too could see big gains. Also, cylinder deactivation technology could make it to the 2014 TT.
The car is expected to be squarely targeted at the Porsche Boxster with a roadster version following the launch of the coupe. While other details as to the engine options of the 2014 Audi TT remains unknown at the moment, both petrol and diesel engine options could make it to the car’s engine bay, as has been the case with previous generation models. The Audi TT will be built on Volkswagen’s brand new MQB transverse engine platform and is expected to be available in both front wheel drive and signature Audi Quattro all wheel drive variants.

NEXT-GEN AUDI Q7 SUV TO BE LIGHTER BY A WHOPPING 350 KG!

Audi Q7 SUV
Audi Q7 SUV
Lots  of aluminum all around. That is what Audi will begin using to lighten up the porker of an SUV, the range topping Audi Q7 when it goes under the knife to get itself a major product refresh. Audi has been talking about using lighter materials like aluminum in most of its cars for quite a while now and this move comes as no surprise really, except for the fact that the targeted weight loss is so high a number that it forces us to gasp in amazement.
770 Pounds or over 350 kilograms is what the next gen Audi Q7 SUV will shed and this considerable weight loss is expected to significantly better both performance and mileage of the Audi Q7, even if the engine and transmission options see no change whatsoever. This brings us back to the basics of automotive design, weight vs performance. Reducing weight usually has the same effect in increasing performance of an automobile’s engine.
Audi Q7 SUV
Audi Q7 SUV
So, by focusing on weight reduction Audi seems to have taken an approach that might push up cost of the next generation of Audi cars as lighter materials like aluminum cost significantly more than steel or even for that matter a more powerful engine and a faster shifting transmission. Unless Audi comes with something radical in its manufacturing processes, it would be quite difficult for the Teuton automaker to keep prices down to current level.
So, expect a higher priced next generation Audi Q7 SUV, but one which is much more fuel efficient and better performing that the existing Q7. This development is quite significant for India simply because of the fact that the Audi Q7 is sold by Audi India by shipping the car directly from Germany as a complete built unit(CBU) and thus any changes internationally to the Audi Q7 usually reflects directly on the Indian model.

COME 2014, THE AUDI R8 SUPERCAR COULD GET LIGHTER AND FASTER THAN EVER BEFORE!

Audi will unveil the next generation version of the R8 super car in 2014, following which a roadster version of the all new R8 will be launched in 2015. The 2014 Audi R8 will not use turbocharging but is expected to retain the highly strung naturally aspirated V8 and the V10 engine it currently comes with, albeit with big changes to boost both power and torque. The V8 engine of the 2014 Audi R8 with the 4.2 liter V8 engine is expected to deliver about 450 Bhp of peak power while the 5.2 liter V10 engine could produce over 550 Bhp. As is the case now, the 4.2 lier V8 engine will be base engine on the 2014 Audi R8 supercar.
2012 Audi R8 V10 Quattro Supercar
2012 Audi R8 V10 Quattro Supercar
Both the engines are expected to use seven speed dual clutch gearboxes for power and torque transmission. Apart from the increased power and torque, big gains to performance will be made by lightening the R8 quite significantly by using a wide variety of weight saving measures. The boffins at Audi are said to be working to ensure a weight reduction by over 60 kilograms, which is quite considerable by supercar standards. With all that weight reduction, the Audi R8 is expected to measure under 1,500 kilograms.
2012 Audi R8 V10 Quattro Supercar
2012 Audi R8 V10 Quattro Supercar
For all this weight reduction, aluminum and carbon fiber are the major materials which are expected to be used on the 2014 R8 and the 2015 R8 Spyder.Power isn’t the only thing that the Audi R8 will be all about. Far from it, the Audi R8 is expected to set stellar standards in terms of fuel economy, which at a claimed 10.9 Kmpl is nothing short of outstanding. A start-stop system, brake energy regeneration and a “sailing” function(A function which idles the engine on downhill stretches) are expected to be the many fuel saving measures.
